Ingeli Comments
Hi Mark,
Thank you for a tremendous weekend adventure.
Everybody has been raving about the experience and I think overall it was a great initiative for us to take part in.
From a feedback point of view I think you can put the following feathers in your cap:
1. Your team is very organised while also being laid back and friendly. Everyone feels part of the “family” event! I see your strong family and moral values shine through in the way you chaps do things.
2. Your guides are top draw. They never tired of waiting for the slow chaps, never left anyone behind, never got flustered by accidents and breakdowns and kept a wonderful sense of humour the whole way through. Jono is great with people and ripped off everyone sparing no one, which we all found very amusing. Stu was great and managed to keep his nose in front the whole way. Great guys.
3. Water tables and lunches were perfect, not too overpowering on the system and just long enough to give everyone decent recovery time.
4. The trails were great. If I were to change anything for next time, I think it would be skipping the Dustbin Hill in favour of the district escape route from lake Eland as that Hill is not really ride able (for mere mortals like myself). Its also a pity that you can’t commandeer that nature reserve route in place of Gamalakhe as after so much pristine beauty, it is a little bit of a rude wake up to encounter all the litter etc that is part of the African township scene. Overall, really great riding though and must be a huge undertaking to keep it all in shape.
5. Bike washes at the end of day two were a real treat and I am sure that if you did this after the last day, No one would bat an eyelid at paying your guys R30 a pop for a wash.
Once again thanks for organizing the whole thing, we really enjoyed it and I am sure we will be back for more, perhaps even the Pondo Pedal.
Regards
Brett

Dura Cycles own Heather Malan to cycle from Jhb - Mgt for charity
This year 5-9th October 2011 our very own Heather Malan will be joining Cycling friends to complete the 860 km trip from Johannesburg to Margate in KZN to raise money for the Pro Deo Care Group.
To survive the Pro Deo Care Group derives its funds from projects like the Cycling Tour and donations made by people attending the clinics, but the costs of goods and apparatus required is escalating yearly. Money raised has to be well managed and purchasing of wheelchairs, pulpit walkers, commodes, bath chairs, foot spa's, hearing aids, oxygen cylinders, special toilet seats, special mattresses and blood pressure apparatus is done with care so that funds are not used unnecessarily. Being elderly can, as we have said, be lonely and these people can feel that they have been forgotten.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made by clicking on this link Doit4charity

Proud hosts of the first ever...
Dura-Ventures was proud to host the first ever night cross country lap racing on the South Coast , The Dura-Cycles Knight Series on Friday evening 6th May 2011.
The idea of mountain biking at night is at best an adventure all on it's own, add the element of competition and you have a whole new dimension to contend with.
Dura-Ventures strived to give the race an element of surprise to the competitors and fun riders alike, By producing really " funky " reflective signage on the track ," lumo " uniforms on marshalls and pumpimg music at the timing zone, all helped to make the race a real hit enjoyed by the entrants and spectators alike.
It was very encouraging to see the turn out of young and old alike with most of the category ages having particpants. Young Nicholas De Bruin even finished his race with his saddle strapped on with marking tape.. But the real dust hit the tyres with the race between Jono Downham and Elmo Van Der Spuy who literally " Blitzed " the track - Jono setting the night series lap record of 12minutes 59 seconds. Bernardt Keudel Schaffer came in a respectable third but not so blitz.
In the Nippers Cwynton Collett and Cale Lindecke fought for line honours to the bitter end with Cwynton just pipping Cale at the post by a few seconds ... wow what a race.
The arm chair safari group consisting of Nicky Smith, Johan Potgieter and "Obelix" kurt Kuhn gave sanity to the whole event and meandered around the track in consistent lap times.
The bravest girl of the evening was little Megan Bircher who took a first in the Nipper Girl category.
Josh Kuhn, Evan Van Der Spuy, Brian Lindecke and Brandon ( Bob ) Venter showed a clean set of cleats to the rest of the competitors in their age group and taking primary place accross the finish line.
The Dura-Cycles Knight Series is for all mountain bikers competitive or not - the emphasis is on " Fun " and after all it is something different to do.
Thanks for the support you made our effort worth it
The next Knight Race will be on the 3rd of June at Douglas Mitchell Sports Club. Registration form 17h00 and riding starts from 18h00 - Entry is R 85.00 which includes a R 25.00 meal voucher. Dear Bjorn
We would just like to take this opportunity and commend you and your team on organising a professional and most memorable excursion for our children at Lake Eland. The dvd/photograph disc was not only a fantastic idea but serves as proof to all the hard work and effort you put into making this excursion the outstanding success it proved to be!
Well done and thank you, it is always reassuring to know our children are away in safe hands, happy and enjoying themselves!
Kind regards
Gary and Kerrin Gouws

Camp on the wild side - Creston College 2011
Dear Bjorn & Dura-ventures Team
We would like to congratulate you on a fantastic concept. We sat watching the DVD with our son, Karl, last night, and it was great being able to share the special moments of his camp with him. We also had some great laughs, and I must say, it made for great family entertainment.
What struck us the most was how physically weak so many of the children were, and we are excited that your concept takes children to the outdoors and away from the TV’s, Playstations etc so many of them have become so hooked on. From our side we will definitely spread the word to our friends in other schools through our swimming network. We also enjoyed the caring yet firm manner in which your leaders interacted with the children, and wish to congratulate you on your choices.
We wish you all the best in this fantastic endeavour, and pray that you wil grow from strength to strength.
Kind regards
Heidi & Maurits Huizinga
